Mark S. Edelman serves as Chair of McGlinchey Stafford’s national
Consumer Financial Services Compliance practice and is located in the
firm’s Cleveland office. Mark represents banks, finance companies,
mortgage companies, and online lenders in regulatory compliance matters
including consumer loan documentation, e-commerce, underwriting, licensing,
state and federal regulatory examinations and investigations, portfolio
acquisitions and divestitures, warehouse and other commercial financing,
insurance, and structured finance. He focuses his practice on multistate
compliance; the development of policies, procedures, and compliance
management systems; business planning; and risk management for personal
property financing, with a particular emphasis on motor vehicle financing
and leasing for captive and independent finance companies, and Buy Here
Pay Here dealers and their related finance companies.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Michigan and The Ohio State
University Moritz College of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor
of the Ohio State Law Journal. He is the former Co-Chair of the American
Bar Association’s Personal Property Finance Subcommittee. He is a frequent
speaker at national programs on consumer finance topics.
