Stephen Hayes is a Partner at Relman Colfax, where he practices in both the Civil
Rights Counseling and Litigation groups. Much of Stephen’s work focuses on
encouraging best-in-class practices on a range of Fair Housing, Fair Lending,
and consumer protection issues, including increasing access to responsible credit
for historically underserved populations. He regularly advises financial institutions,
governmental entities, and non-profits. He also led a Fair Lending Monitorship of
a lender that uses AI/ML models, participated in a Civil Rights Audit of Facebook,
and he has represented individuals and organizations as plaintiffs in numerous
discrimination actions. He has testified before the House Financial Services
Task Force on Artificial Intelligence and regularly presents at conferences and
other engagements. Stephen previously served in the Legal Division of the CFPB.
